Dia de los Muertos: Singer for the Dead

$5.00

When someone comes up to me and says, “Draw me something cool” I usually say no. In this case I did not and since it was around the Day of the Dead slash Halloween and this would maybe be a design for a mural in a bar and I really had a high opinion of the couple that asked me for the art, I said, “Yes.”

Originally I saw this as the beginning of a tintype photograph reproduction. I thought I would add a couple more cowboys or girls in the sketch but, as it turns out, this guy was enough for them and thats what they wanted as a painting. The painting hung at the Hi Hat Public house for four years until the place closed down. I hope my “Cantante para los muertos” is still singing somewhere out there.
