When to break your own rules....
Normally I avoid portraiture consignments and especially pet portraits. I feel when I’m asked to do a portrait someone would like me to capture the whimsical aspects of someones character that I do not know. She was such a funny girl, he was so generous, good spirited, etc, emotions or shared experiences that I always feel are impossible to capture and I feel like the portrait would just be a disappointment .
But, In the case of Uncle, the doberman pictured here, I felt a connection with the dog even though he is no longer with us. can’t really explain it but I’ll explore that later. In the meantime here’s Uncle! (Work in Progress)
And here is the finished painting. So my friend Rahmi, here is your friend to always watch over you. I hope you enjoy this work. I had a lot of fun trying to capture the puppy in this wise old soul! Thank you for trusting me with this and putting your faith in my talent.
